Who would have thought that this glamorous and mysterious ingredient is actually derived from the humble orange? Neroli is the prettier name given to the bitter orange flower, a close relative of the common navel orange. As the name implies, unlike navel oranges, bitter oranges are just that – bitter. In fact, they are commonly called “marmalade oranges” as they are historically used to make this tart British spread. Much like rose water, neroli water is distilled from the bitter orange flower via hydrodistillation (a.k.a. steam distillation) where the flowers are carefully steamed to release the fragrant water.
If you’re looking for a toner to add to your beauty routine, you’ll definitely want to consider neroli water. It’s known for its ability to regenerate the skin cells and improve the elasticity of skin. It also helps maintain the hydration balance in the skin, making it an excellent choice for all skin types.
Due to its ability to revive skin at the cellular level, neroli water can be beneficial for wrinkles, scars and discoloration. Any skin condition caused by or related to stress should also respond well to the use of neroli water since it has wonderful overall healing and calming abilities.
